On Saturday night, October 24, 2009, President Obama very quietly declared a state of national emergency because of the Swine Flu. Obama’s declaration read in part:
"The 2009 H1N1 influenza pandemic in the United States constitutes a national emergency…. As a nation, we have prepared at all levels of government… taking unprecedented steps to counter the emerging pandemic.”
Historical consideration of the last time our government took 'unprecedented steps' related to the Swine Flu is enlightening, as are the repercussions.
